SaponLabs introduces a new service - the production of bespoke plant extracts

The experience gained during the implementation of the project "Development of a series of natural shampoos without the addition of synthetic surfactants, especially SLS and SLES" co-financed by the European Union under the European Regional Development Fund allowed us to introduce a new service to our portfolio – preparing bespoke plant extracts in liquid or solid form.

During the implementation of the project, we examined over 50 plants, among others soapwort, horse chestnut, quinoa, soybean, oats, white willow, and rowan. In the case of many plants, we conducted extraction processes using specific plant organs (e.g. roots, leaves, flowers, bark, fruit, seeds, etc.) in various conditions. The experience gained in this way allows us to quickly optimize the process conditions for any plant material according to the specific client's expectations. Due to the specificity of the cosmetic applications, our specialty are water extracts, however, at the customer's request, we also carry out processes in a non-aqueous phase (e.g. water-alcohol, glycerin, oil, etc.). Extracts with water or containing a small amount of alcohol can also be spray dried with or without the addition of preservatives and drying aids. Spray drying, thanks to the low effective temperature of the process, allows to preserve the most valuable ingredients of dried plant extracts, which is why this process is used on a daily basis by SaponLabs team to obtain extracts from plants rich in compounds from the saponin group, which are easily broken down at elevated temperatures.
